Using a Bold Pattern as a Background

The Feeling Groovy scrapbooking kit came with this beautiful star paper which I really wanted to challenge mysself to use as a background. When using a bold bacground like this, it’s best to go light on embellishments but be sure to choose embellishmnents that will hold up to the strong lines in the background.

If this is too strong a look for you, you could also cut off some of the outer lines and mout the page on plain cardstock, giving the eye some space to rest. Check out my process video below to see how this one came together.

Introducing the MTK Design Team!

We are thrilled to introduce our Design Team for 2023!  We were taken aback by the number of people who applied, and overwhelmed by the talent and the sweet messages you sent us.  It was very difficult to choose just 5, but we are hoping as our business grows, we will be able to invite even more design team members.  Our next DT call will be in December, but in the meantime, I hope you enjoy our kits and enjoy the inspiration these ladies will bring to the club.  If you haven’t already, please head over to our Facebook group Mercy Tiara Kit Club where you’ll find inspiration and news about our kits.  Each month there will be a challenge and the winner will receive a free kit!!

Here again is our DT:

  • Shannon Allor (She’s Crafty on YouTube and Instagram)
  • Kate Blue (KraftyQueenKat on Instagram)
  • Aurélie Cormier (aureliecormierperreault on Instagram)
  • Danielle Miller (Shimmerlife on Instagram)

Colour Smooshing with Feeling Groovy

The Feeling Groovy kit provides so many opportunities for mixed font titles, with those large loopy cursive words in the Vicki Boutin chipboard, and the blockier Thickers from the main kit.

Here, I used plastic packaging (AKA the smooshing technique) to apply ink to a plain white background to anchor my layers on the page. Check out the process video to see how this one came together:
